How OPPO enables startups for tech advancements

-

With 150 million startups worldwide today and another 50 million launching each year, innovation and creativity are reshaping industries. Due to a variety of difficulties, however, roughly 1 in 5 startups fail. Recognizing this, OPPO is actively engaging with startups to provide essential support to help navigate obstacles and bring innovations into fruition.

Beyond Investment

Startups need more than just an idea to be successful. AlpsenTek is just one that leveraged OPPO’s financial and technical support to integrate its hybrid vision sensor ALPIX-Eiger with AI algorithm capabilities. Using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Mobile platform, OPPO led the development of a set of AI Motion algorithms that can process the information from sensor to de-blur images. This helped AlpsenTek’s technology to recognize the ability to be applied to smartphones and the chance to further drive AI-related innovation for both parties.

DeepMirror x OPPO

DeepMirror is another startup that OPPO partnered with as the continue to invest in extended reality. OPPO invited them to showcase its latest AR game at MWC 2024. Using its cloud-based service MirrorVerse, visitors were able to interact with real environments inside games for an increased sense of immersion.

Co-Create to Drive Disruption

Making new technologies will always be a game of co-creation – whether for a big company or startup. An example of this relationship is with HUAYI Medical Technologies. Founded in 2021, they specialize in contactless health monitoring and products. Their core solution is “WonTrackR” that combines millimeter wave technology, radar/physiological signal processing and reconstruction, and AI modeling. A device featuring WonTrackR can be placed anywhere at home to monitor health metrics in an unintrusive way.

CloudSteth x OPPO

Another collaborator is CloudSteth and their intelligent auscultation system that can automatically analyze heart and lung sounds through AI. This can help children with pneumonia, asthma, and congenital heart disease to get diagnosed earlier and receive medical treatment sooner. Close cooperation with leading hospitals in China has allowed them rich experience in medical treatment.

Both startups’ solutions are advancements to preventive healthcare and telemedicine. During INNO DAY 2022, OPPO unveiled its 0Hea1th H1 family health monitor to help diagnose illnesses and provide treatment suggestions. The company is currently joining with HUAYI and CloudSteth to conduct clinical trials aimed at increasing the accuracy of AI algorithm in data monitoring and refining IoT devices like the 0Hea1th H1.

Long-Term Empowerment

Empowering startups will not be a one-off for OPPO, but will be a part of its permanent mission. Initiatives like their OPPO Inspiration Challenge aims to provide startups with support and global recognition opportunities.

OPPO x Bluepha and Tangtangquan

For example, OPPO worked together with Tangtangquan to implement its digital therapeutic solution on the OPPO Watch 3 and 4, which they claim helped more than 20,000 users to monitor blood glucose and manage their health conveniently.

In December 2023, OPPO invited Bluepha Co., Ltd to showcase Bluepha PHA – a green material alternative to plastic – to a global audience during COP28. It was made into the phone case for the OPO Find N2 Flip to show its potential for commercial use in the future.

OPPO says that it will remain dedicated to collaborating with and supporting the next generation of startups to drive innovation and deliver transformative experiences for users worldwide.
