In Ghost of Yotei, players get to fight Saito, the main antagonist of the game, twice during the story. As Atsu, players get to experience being taught by different masters to even the odds against this legendary foe. But with revenge finally within arms reach, can Atsu follow up and put to rest her grievances with a single blow? Get to know how to beat Saito easily using this guide!
One of the main missions during Chapter 1 of Ghost of Yotei is for Atsu to enter the Saito’s training grounds in the region. This requires a bit of stealth and it is recommended that players level up a bit or unlock some of the weapons to counter the enemies in this area.
During this fight, Saito simply uses a yari (spear) to fight you. Use the dual swords to counter and chip his health. As you are about to win the fight, the Matsumae attacks, forcing Saito to withdraw from the fight.
This is the last and ultimate duel of the game. After you defeat and dispatch the five other targets, the player gets to finally fight Saito in the place where it all began.
In the first phase, Saito uses different weapons during the fight. He can be seen using a Yari, a Kusarigama, a shield, and even an Odachi. While you can just use weapons that you are familiar with, using weapon counters to your advantage can make the fight much easier. Take note of weapon counters to dispatch Saito and get the advantage.
You can also use quickfire tools such as Smoke Bombs to get a breather and restore your health. Note that Saito can also use disarm so best prepare to counter or at least dodge that attack. If you get disarmed, dodge roll until you get to your weapon.
If Saito Uses | Counter With |
---|---|
Shield | Kusarigama |
Kusarigama | Yari (Spear) |
Yari (Spear) | Dual Swords |
Odachi | Katana |
Using counters against Saito staggers him a bit more than just using a single weapon against him. It’s also recommended that you enter the fight with your weapon skills maxed out to tip the odds more in your favor.
This fight has a bit more surprise in it as you Saito not only get his katana out but also has three Spirit Charges. He can use this Spirit to unleash a devastating combo, which thankfully, can be Perfect Parried. This fight may seem difficult at first, but with proper timing and dodges, you can easily beat Saito in no time.
You should also be wary of your distance with Saito as he can now use a Pistol. The Pistol damage can take a huge chunk from your HP if you do not have any charms or counters against it. If you’re attentive and fast, you can dodge the attack once you see the red glint.
This fight is the culmination of all the things that you learned in your journey. Use Quickfire items, change weapons, and time your dodges and parries. It is also worth mentioning that the fight is significantly easier if you are substantially leveled up.
