In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2), players can make use of dodge in combat. This can be a huge boon if you know how to time it and where to land. Get to know how to dodge, the advantages, and more using this guide.
Aside from being a prompt to block, the green shield that displays during combat can also be used as an indicator to dodge. When the green shield appears on screen, use the directional buttons and the jump button to dodge. Use dodge to position yourself to either the flanks or far from the enemy. A good awareness of your surroundings is needed to effectively dodge so study your environment first and use it to your advantage!
Dodging does not consume stamina! Use it well and you can pull yourself away from the enemy or push through with more attacks.
River is a perk that rewards you with +3 bonus Warfare skill and +15% stamina recovery for 10 seconds whenever you dodge or sprint during combat. This can be extremely helpful in a pinch and with stamina recovery being a prime resource during fights, taking this skill and dodging in every encounter can get you through even the hardest encounters!
To dodge and counterattack, press either the right or left buttons and the dodge button at the same time. This would position you to either the right or left flank of the enemy. If done correctly, the enemy may not have prepared his defences by this time to press on with the attack! You can hammer the opponent down with your weapons or shower them with fists if you are fighting unarmed.
As dodging changes your position, you really need to be aware about your next location. If surrounded by enemies, always position yourself away from the crowd and try to take them out one by one. If you fail a dodge, you might present your rear or sides to a nearby enemy, opening you to attacks instead.
The buttons to execute dodge are the same as the ones for jumping. Do note that you can only dodge during combat.
