In Ghost of Yotei, players start with Atsu’s Onryo Armor. Although it is the default armor of the game, upgrading it is not simple and may take quite some time. Get to know the stats and details of Atsu’s Onryo Armor, how to upgrade it, and more using this guide.
Follow the Gold Ginkgo Leaf. The Gold Ginkgo leaf pertains to the markers on your map that denote main story missions.
The Onryo armor, unlike the other armors that you acquire in Ghost of Yotei, requires you to follow the game’s story. Major events in the game result in not only advancing the story but also improving the stats and bonuses of the Onryo armor. It’s also worth noting that you do not need to spend any resources to upgrade the Onryo Armor.
While it may not be the best armor in the game, having an upgraded Onryo armor is a must if you wish to experience a specific play style.
There are four story missions to complete to fully upgrade the Onryo Armor. The last required mission, “To Catch A Spider”, is in Chapter 2 of the game.
The missions “The Oni”, “The Kitsune’s Fate”, and “Shogun of the North” can be taken in whichever sequence that you want.
The Onryo armor has five different levels. Most armors only have four.
Onryo Armor V Stats |
---|
Killing an enemy with a Spirit Attack or a thrown Melee weapon has a moderate chance of Terrifying nearby enemies. |
The wolf has a major chance to appear when enemies are Terrified. |
Terrified enemies take increased damage by a massive amount. |
The Onryo armor makes great use of the Terrifying mechanic in which enemies cower in fear at your presence. It greatly amplifies the effects of Onryo Howl and charms that further boost the Terrify mechanic. If you wish to make enemies run away or freeze simply because of your presence and reputation, this is an armor that you should wear.
Ghost of Yotei is now out on the PS5 and you can purchase it either online via the official PS5 product page or via your local game stores.
