With that said, it’s still safe to have your own personal printer at home. But with a myriad of choices flooding the market, what printer should you actually get? Trimming the large number of choices is the HP Smart Tank 580, an all-in-one wireless printer that can also scan and copy your files. But is it worth it? Although relative, we can say that the HP Smart Tank 580 is an easy printer to set up. It’s not that heavy and you do need a large desk or table to set this thing up. After you get it out of the box and onto a table, you then have to remove the safety locks and prepare the printer with the included inks in the box. Note that the colored inks are enough to fill the tanks once. On the other hand, the black ink bottle included can fill up the tank twice. Now, once we have things up and running, just plug it up and get connected.
You do not need to connect the HP Smart Tank 580 directly to a computer. While it does include a USB cable for physical connection, you only need a working wireless smartphone, a tablet, or a laptop/desktop to have it running. However, it’s not as easy as simply connecting to it directly as you need to download HP’s app either on mobile or on PC. Once downloaded, the setup is easy to understand and you can then directly interface with your printer/scanner to have it running. Easy, right?
Now after setup, the beauty of it all is that you can wirelessly print, copy, and scan. While you can do these actions by directly interfacing with the printer, you can conveniently do them using your smartphone, tablet, or PC. Using the app that you downloaded, simply choose a command that you want the printer to perform and it will do it without any hitches provided that you were able to set up the HP Smart Tank 580 well.
If you’re wondering as to how you can print a lot of things with the HP Smart Tank 580 in the future, then wonder no more. The printer uses HP GT52 for its colored inks and HP GT53 for its black ink. The 50ml bottles for the inks usually have a price tag of PhP 290, which we can consider as reasonably priced and given that you do get quality prints with the inks, a definite bang for the buck.
Also, as mentioned above, the HP Smart Tank 580 comes with 50ml bottles of each colored ink and one 135ml bottle of the blank ink. HP claims that if you print an average of 200 pages per month, these included inks will last you for two years. Not bad.
Since time immemorial, determining issues with printers has been quite a headache. Fortunately, such is not the case with the HP Smart Tank 580. If you have issues with the ink, having paper stuck, or connectivity, the control panel display found directly on top of the printer will tell you what the concern is. The manual included in the package also gives a good description of each error and how you should troubleshoot them. Together with the display are quick buttons for easy color copy, black copy, and ID copy.
The HP Smart Tank 580 is a great product that bundles what you usually need in printers. While there are cheaper options out there, the 3-in-1 package together with the ease of setup and wireless connectivity makes the HP Smart Tank 580 a very enticing product. It’s not that heavy, is easy to get up and running, and you don’t need to have a degree in rocket science to get printing. It’s very intuitive and once you do get over the hurdle of setting it up, you can print, scan, and copy without any worries.
Given such an experience, we can recommend the HP Smart Tank 580 for small offices and homes as it is a great quality device that is incredibly versatile. It’s also worth investing in something like this one given that it can function as a scanner and as a copier.
The HP Smart Tank 580 is available locally and can be purchased either online (via Lazada or Shopee) or at your favorite office supply store. As per the multiple postings of this product, the price roughly plays around PhP 8,999. Not bad for a 3-in-1 package.
