Sorry Apple, you’re too late…

Today, Huawei announced their new flagship phone dubbed as Mate S – and it has a familiar sounding feature that we first heard from Apple: the Force Touch. This was also the name of Apple’s pressure-based touchscreen technology (maybe we can expect some copyright issues?) – it’s a feature first found on the Apple Watch and MacBooks, and it is one of the things that we personally requested Apple for an added feature on the upcoming iPhone.

The Smartphone was unveiled today at the IFA in Berlin. It boasts a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, covered with a metal shell and has a curved back, one of its main highlights is its user interaction components. The Mate S includes an enhanced fingerprint scanner and “Knuckle Sense” technology that lets users multitask and switch to different apps with the use of their knuckles.

Just like Apple’s, Huawei’s Force Touch feature can detect the pressure that users apply to the smartphone’s touchscreen, and will allow them to add more functions like zooming and opening applications. They also demonstrated the Force Touch can be used as a scale.

The Force Touch will only be available in selected markets and will first be available in more than 30 countries like China, France and Germany. Pricing for the Force Touch has not yet been announce. Stay tuned for more updates.
