Huawei is introducing their own AI assistant, Celia. Since their new smartphones don’t support Google Services, Celia is meant to compete with the likes of Google Assistant and Siri to allow the transition of moving to Huawei Mobile Services to be as seamless as possible.
Celia works similarly as other assistants. It responds to “Hey, Celia” and can be accessed by holding the power button for a second like Google Assistant. Currently, she can perform basic commands such as querying for weather, phone calls, messages, and reminders. She can also play/pause music as well as translate foreign languages.
She can understand a few languages such as English, French, and Spanish though we can expect more languages to be supported if Huawei Mobile Services is able to pick up traction in other countries. Celia is also able to integrate itself in the existing AI services of Huawei smartphones such as scanning images and identifying objects such as food.
Huawei is looking forward to adding more and more features to its brand new AI assistant. The brand says that it will roll out Celia with the EMUI 10.1 update on its devices though when and what devices are compatible devices haven’t been detailed yet.
