Huawei Mate 10 now official, comes with QHD display and f/1.6 dual Leica cameras

Huawei has unleashed the beast! The new Huawei Mate 10 builds on the base that the Mate 9 paved and improves it immensely. The Mate 10 carries over the 5.9-inch 16:9 screen from the Mate 9 but improves on it by having a resolution of 2560 x 1440 instead of just 1080p.

The camera has also been improved. The Mate 10 now has f/.1.6 dual Leica cameras, which also carries over assets such as OIS, PDAF, and Laser AF for better snaps with the rear camera. The cameras also follows the RGB + Monochrome setup from previous dual camera Huawei smartphones. This setup is a 12MP RGB sensor paired with a 20MP monochrome sensor while the front-facing camera is an 8MP camera affair.

The Huawei Mate 10 uses the company’s latest SoC, the Kirin 970. Built from 10nm manufacturing process that contains 5.5 billion transistors, the Kirin 970 now focuses on AI with its own Neural Processing Unit (NPU). That’s not to say that the SoC doesn’t pack a punch. Inside is an octa-core CPU and a 12-core GPU that can deliver up to 25x more performance with 50x efficiency compared to a quad-core Cortex-A73 CPU.

The Kirin 970 is complemented by 4GB of RAM while storage is handled by 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD slot. Its juice is supplied by a 4,000mAh battery backed up by TÜV Safety Certified Huawei SuperCharge that allows the Mate 10 to get a day’s usage from just 20 minutes of usage. On the software front, the Mate 10 comes with Android 8.0 Oreo with Huawei’s latest EMUI 8.0.
