It seems that just yesterday Huawei released their Mate 10 series powered by the company’s own Kirin 970 chipset. The Kirin 970 chipset, however, is now also available via the P20 and P20 Pro. This means that the upcoming Mate 20 series would need some serious computation power to trump its predecessors.

A benchmark score of a whopping 356918 has been spotted on AnTuTU, which is expected to ship out on the next iteration of the Mate series. According to the information that has surfaced, the Kirin 980 chipset is a 7mm lithography courtesy of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
There’s no official information yet available for the Kirin 980 but it is rumoured to have Cortex A75 CPU cores and a more powerful GPU. Of course, the built-in NPU on the Kirin 970 may also find its way back to the Kirin 980.
The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are expected to debut this October 2018.
