The Huawei Mate X6 has officially made its debut in China. Their new foldable packs the new HarmonyOS Next, larger displays, and improved cameras, all within a 4.3mm-thick chassis.
The Mate X6 comes with a 7.93-inch 2440 x 2240 LTPO panel with a 120Hz variable refresh rate, and a 6.45-inch 2440 x 1080 LTPO OLED 120Hz cover screen. Its thin chassis also houses up to a 5,200mAh battery that supports 66W Huawei SuperCharge, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging.
For cameras, the foldable comes with a 50MP f/1.4 – f/4.0 variable aperture main camera, a 48MP telephoto lens with up to 4x optical zoom, and a 40MP ultrawide angle shooter. Huawei equips a fourth hyperspectral sensor that they claim receives more than 1.5 million colors to improve color accuracy of photos.
Huawei did not specify the Mate X6’s chipset though it is expected that the flagship foldable will have a Kirin 9100 chip inside. Though it the chip isn’t as new as its peers, they have used a 3D vapor chamber with several graphite layers to cool it down and improve performance.
The foldable is the first device to come with HarmonyOS Next 5.0. It implements plenty of AI features and split-screen features such as gathering notes while watching, and rewriting text.
The Huawei Mate X6 starts at CNY 12,999 and is currently exclusive in China. When directly converted, the foldable is priced just north of PhP 100,000.
No word yet if the Huawei Mate X6 will launch on a global stage.
