Introduced in the Philippines alongside the Huawei MateBook D 16 2024, both the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2-inch and FreeClip have hit the local shelves. The two are being touted as creative and productivity-focused devices and will come with additional freebies for a limited time.
The Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2-inch sports the new Kirin 9000S that promises better performance compared to previous MatePads. As its name suggests, it will come with a 3:2 13.2-inch 2880 x 1920 OLED display running at 144Hz complemented by six speakers and four microphones.
While it doesn’t support 5G, it will have support for WiFi 6 for faster Internet speeds. Cameras include a 13MP f/1.8 main camera and an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide at the rear while at the back is a 16MP f/2.2 selfie shooter.
The tablet is compatible with the Huawei M-Pencil 3rd Generation. The pen has more than 10,000 pressure sensing levels to improve its accuracy and minimal latency. Two nibs come bundled – a transparent nib for painting and an opaque nib for note taking.
To showcase its creative potential, Huawei has launched the GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity. This initiative will reward the best artwork made with a MatePad device with a creation fund of up to USD 5,000. MatePad users can use supported applications such as Mojing Paint in crafting entries. The competition is open until February 29, 2024 and can be viewed via its official website.
Next to the MatePad Pro 13.2-inch is the Huawei FreeClip – one of their first open-ear TWS. It’s made with what they call a “C-Bridge” design with a Ni-Ti shape memory alloy that contains 9 core wires and a memory steel within a tight housing that only weighs in at 5.6g with IP54 dust and water resistance rating.
Each bud is powered by a 10.8mm Dual Magnet High-Sensitivity Driver. Battery life is set at around 8 hours or around 5 hours of talk time on a single charge. Taking the charging case into account ups the battery longevity up to 36 hours.
