Huawei’s new set of mid-range devices has been officially launched in the Philippines. Coming in the form of the Huawei Nova 3i and Huawei Nova 3, both smartphones aim to succeed their predecessors by offering even more performance at a price that won’t burn a hole through your wallet.
Huawei Nova 3
The Huawei Nova 3 is essentially the brand’s entry for the PhP 25,000 price point. The smartphone comes with most of the features you can get from the previously released Huawei P20. Inside is a Kirin 970 SoC, which is the same chipset found on Huawei’s current roster of flagships such as the P20 and P20 Pro.
The Huawei Nova 3 also comes with four AI cameras with the rear camera setup having 24MP (monochrome) +16MP (RGB) f/1.8 cameras while the selfies are taken with a 24MP + 2MP f/2.0 shooter. With AI capabilities, the cameras on the smartphone can now do scene detection, better bokeh implementation, and face unlock.
Speaking of scene detection, the rear cameras of the Nova 3 can now identify more than 500 typical scenarios across 22 categories. The front-facing camera, meanwhile, can now recognize more than 200 scenarios across eight categories. Selfies are now better optimized while the user’s face is separately beautified.
Huawei Nova 3i
Aiming to succeed the Nova 2i, the Huawei Nova 3i now comes with a notched 6.3-inch IPS display at a resolution of 2340 x 1080. Inside is a new SoC; the Kirin 710. The chipset is backed by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Kirin 710 also improves on the formula by having GPU Turbo technology that ramps up its GPU to improve performance in intensive games or workloads.
The Huawei Nova 3i also comes with a quad-camera setup as its predecessor. At the rear is 16MP + 2MP shooters while at the front are 24MP + 2MP cameras. Despite being advertised as having four cameras, the 2MP cameras actually act as depth sensors for better bokeh effects.
