Huawei outs prices and availability of the P20 series

-

Huawei has just announced that the P20 Pro, P20, and P20 Lite will be coming into the Philippines on April 28, 2018 with surprisingly competitive prices. Officially unveiled in a standalone event in Paris, the P20 series carries over the photography power that Huawei’s previous smartphones has been known for.

Instead of having just two rear cameras, the P20 Pro comes with triple rear cameras composed 40MP RGB, 20MP monochrome, and 8MP telephoto cameras. The P20, however, will stick to a more traditional dual camera setup with a 20MP monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGB camera.

The cameras now come with more AI features compared to their predecessors. Backing up the P20 and P20 Plus’ cameras are AI Image Stabilization, which helps eliminate blur while taking photos. Video taking has been improved with this new generation of Huawei’s P-smartphones with a 960fps super slow motion mode that can allow users to take super-fluid videos.

At the selfie front, both smartphones will come with a 24MP front-facing camera with a CMOS sensor. To take even better selfies, the smartphones will now have an AI-driven 3D facial modelling technology called 3D Portrait Lighting.

Huawei is also jumping on the notched display bandwagon with the P20 series. The P20 will have a notched 5.8-inch screen with a resolution of 2240 x 1080 while the bigger P20 Pro will come with a larger 6.1-inch notched display with the same 2240 x 1080 resolution.

Both smartphones will ship with Android 8.1 with Huawei’s latest EMUI 8.1. The two will ship with a Huawei Kirin 970 SoC, which is the same found on the Mate 10 series. The only difference between the two smartphones in terms of sheer performance is that the Huawei P20 Pro will with a 6GB/128GB setup while the Huawei P20 will have a 4GB/128GB format.

In terms of battery, the P20 will have a 3,400mAh battery while the P20 Pro will ship out with a 4,000mAh battery. They are both backed by the HUAWEI SuperCharge quick charging technology so you can spend less time charging your smartphone.

Huawei P20 Lite

The Huawei P20 Lite, based on its position, will be replacing the Nova 2i in the mid-range category. Much like its siblings, the P20 Lite comes with a notched display with the P20 Lite having a 5.84-inch display at 2280 x 1080.

It will run using Huawei’s own Kirin 659 chipset with Android 8.0. Rear imaging is handled by a 16MP f/2.2 camera plus a 2MP secondary shooter. The P20 Lite also supports PDAF as well as LED flash. Selfies will be taken with a 16MP f/2.0 camera at the front that’s capable of taking 1080p video.

Power of the P20 Lite is supplied by a 3,000mAh that’s charged by a USB Type-C connection. The smartphone will also come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Huawei P20 series are priced surprisingly competitively despite their high-end specifications. The P20 Lite is priced at PhP 15,990, the P20 will cost at PhP 34,990, while the P20 Pro will sell at PhP 44,990. All three smartphones will be out in the Philippines on April 28, 2018.
