Huawei P30 and P30 Pro officially announced

-

Huawei has officially announced their latest addition to the P-series, the P30 series. Composed of two models: the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. These new smartphones from Huawei ups the ante in mobile photography like the smartphones before it.

As always, the recent in the P-series smartphones focuses more on photography. As such, the P30 Pro comes with a 40MP f/1.6 main shooter, a 20MP wide-angle secondary, and a depth sensor coutesy of Leica

The camera setup of the Huawei P30 Pro is completed with an 8MP f/3.4 5x native zoom. The zoom lens, however, will be a periscope camera. In order to achieve its 10x zoom, the P30 Pro will be employing a 5x optical enhancement.

We’ve already experienced the 10x zoom of Huawei P20 Pro. If it can surpass the P20 Pro’s zoom capabilities, then were in one hell of a ride with the P30 Pro.

Huawei has improved imaging with the Huawei P30 Pro by using a RYYB pattern instead of RGGB. Both the P30 Pro and P30 will also be taking taking advantage of the Kirin 980 and its self-developed algorithm to further preserve detail.

The Huawei P30 will be employing a rather traditional 8MP zoom lens compared to the periscope lens of the Huawei P30 Pro. The P30, however, will be using a 40MP f/1.8 main and a 16MP wide-angle secondary.

As for their displays, the Huawei P30 Pro employs a 6.47-inch 2340 x 1080 OLED display while the P30 has a smaller 6.1-inch 2340 x 1080 OLED screen. Huawei, however, hasn’t moved on from the notch yet. Instead of using a punch-hole display like the S10 series, the P30 series uses a Dewdrop design. This means that there is a notch although its footprint has been minimzed.

Huawei has ditched the traditional rear-mounted fingerprint scanner opting to use the increasingly common in-display fingerprint scanner with the P30 series.

In terms of performance, both the Huawei P30 Pro and the P30 uses the Kirin 980 previously found on the Mate 20 series. This has been expected since the P-series focuses more on photography evolution while the Mate series centers around on design and performance improvement.

Both smartphones come with 8GB of RAM. They do differ, however, in internal storage. The Huawei P30 Pro comes with 512GB of storage while the P30 has 128GB.

Power for the Huawei P30 Pro is supplied by a 4,200mAh battery while the P30 comes with a 3,650mAh battery. Huawei is promising that these smartphone can charge up to 70% in just 30 minutes using the 40W Huawei SuperCharge.

Here are the prices and variants available for the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro:

  • Huawei P30 6GB/128GB – EUR 799
  • Huawei P30 Pro 8GB/128GB – EUR 999
  • Huawei P30 Pro 8GB/256GB – EUR 1099
