If you have experienced ultrawide monitors when it comes to gaming (such is the case with the XG35V), then there’s no turning back to the more traditional 16:9 monitors. Back in Computex 2018, ASUS teased their first Double FullHD (DFHD) monitor in the form of the VG49V. This time, however, they showed off the capability of the first ROG-branded DFHD monitor, the ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ.
The ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ shares largely the same specifications as the VG49V. The panel on the display is a curved 49-inch screen with a total resolution of 3840 x 1080 with a 32:9 aspect ratio. To even sweeten the deal, ASUS ROG’s latest massive monitor has a refresh rate of 144Hz and support for FreeSync 2 to take advantage of tear-free gaming while playing on an AMD card.
As far as colors go, the XG49VQ has VESA DisplayHDR 400 certifications as well as 125% coverage of sRGB. All this should lead to a more colorful and immersive gaming experience.
No word yet as to the pricing and availability of the ASUS ROG XG35V. But as far as we’ve seen from 21:9 gaming monitors in the last year, we can assume that ASUS’ latest 32:9 gaming monitor is going to cost a pretty penny.
