Both the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have been unveiled alongside the iPhone 17 Air. This generation of iPhone flagships now come with the new A19 Pro chips for better performance and three 48MP Fusion Cameras that lets them capture sharper images and video.
The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max’s Apple A19 Pro chips feature a 6-core CPU and 6-core GPU that promise up to 40% improved sustained performance compared last year’s entries. Apple has also implemented a better cooling system with a vapor chamber laser-welded onto their chassis to carry away heat.
Complementing the A19 Pro is the Apple N1 chip that lets it support WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Apple is replacing last year’s Snapdragon X71 model with their own C1X modem, which they claim uses 30% less energy.
The two will come with a three Fusion cameras at the back composed of a 48MP main shooter, a 48MP ultrawide, and a 48MP telephoto. The telephoto is the highlight of this generation allowing the Pro and Pro Max to have 4x optical zoom and 8x optical zoom at 100mm and 200mm focal lengths, respectively, to get better portraits. Digital zoom reaches up to 40x for photos to let you see further away.
These cameras also come with several video goodies such as Dolby Vision HDR recording, 4K120fps, ProRes Log, support for ACES, ProRes Raw, and Genlock, and Log 2.
The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max come with 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR displays with Ceramic Shield 2, respectively. They also support ProMotion 120Hz as well as peak brightness of up to 3,000nits outdoors. Peaking out of their screens is an 18MP front-facing camera with Center Stage that offers a wider view and AI to automatically expand the field of view.
Both devices can charge up to 50% 20 minutes using a high-wattage USB-C adapter like their own 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max. Colorways include Silver, Cosmic Orange, and Deep Blue.
