Is Tesla planning to open in the Philippines?

Big names are starting to bring electric vehicles in the Philippines as they get more and more traction. Tesla, however, is still missing in Filipino’s options for EVs, but this might change soon as job listings suggest that they may start officially bringing their cars into the country.

Tesla coming to the Philippines?

Tesla has posted several job offers on LinkedIn in operations, sales, store manager, customer support, vehicle services, charging, and administration. The validity is further strengthened by official positions being offered on their official website. The listings say that may be setting up their offices in Taguig, presumably in BGC.

The company has a direct sales model, which means that they sell directly to the customer. They don’t go through the usual process of car sales via importers or distributors.

While a couple of Teslas have been spotted around Manila, the company still has no official presence in the Philippines. This makes these units either imported or gray market units.

The arrival of Tesla in the Philippines is definitely an advantage for the EV market. Not only does it offer more options to the people who can afford it, but it supercharges the position of EVs in the Philippines. This may also mean more charging points around the country.

Nothing official has been announced by Tesla about their arrival in the Philippines.
