Lenovo and Formula 1 has announced the extension of their partnership in a multi-year renewal starting at the beginning of 2025. As part of their tie up, Motorola, a subsidiary of Lenovo Group, will become Global Smartphone Partner of F1.

As Global Partner of Formula 1, Lenovo will provide them with state-of-the-art devices, solutions, and services to support the delivery of Grand Prix at the track and remotely. In the agreement, Lenovo will serve as the title sponsor of two races per season and Lenovo and Motorola will have increased trackside branding at events.

Lenovo has been at the heart of the F1’s operations as an official partner since 2022. Its on-site High-Performance Computing solutions, servers, and edge devices, has helped F1 in its delivery in its broadcasts. Their notebooks, workstations, desktops, monitors, as well as tablets and smartphones provide the F1 staff with equipment to create engaging and customized content for the fans.

Additionally, Lenovo’s Asset Recovery Service supports F1’s sustainability strategy and its efforts to reduce emissions and reach Net Zero by 2030. This service ensure that retired hardware is recycled in a socially and environmentally conscious manner. They claim that F1 has sustainably disposed 95% of obsolete hardware, which helps reduce3 costs and risks through reliable data destruction.

Throughout the partnership, Lenovo is planning to integrate smarter technology into the sport. The world’s first kiss-activated trophies at the F1 Lenovo Japanese Grand Prix 2023 and F1 Lenovo US Grand Prix 2023, along with this year’s laurel wreath design, elevate podium celebrations.

F1 has seen a significant growth in popularity in recent years with increased TV audiences, record attendance, and fan engagement across all its platforms. Both companies share a commitment to sustainability and the exploration of next generation technologies.

Through the direct collaboration between F1’s technical teams and Lenovo’s Centre of Excellence, innovative solutions are being found to a variety of challenges such as the use of onsite and Edge Compute AI solutions to improve operational efficiency during live F1 broadcasts.
