Lenovo introduces its Switch-like Lavie Mini convertible PC

-

Headlining Lenovo’s CES 2021 early reveal is its Lavie Mini. Made in a joint venture with NEC Corportation, the Lavie Mini is basically a portable Windows PC with all the amenities in a Switch-like formfactor complete with a controller and a gaming dock.

Lenovo Lavie Mini

The Lavie Mini is a pocket-sized convertible PC, which packs an Intel’s 11th Generation Core i7 processor with Intel Iris Xe GPU. Weighing in at just under 600 grams, the device is still able to pack in an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 touch display. Inside its Crystal White chassis is support for WiFi 6, 256GB SSD storage, and 16GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

Lenovo’s latest portable can be used as a notebook for work but it can be transformed into another device thanks to a variety of attachments. Those who like to experience a Switch-like functionality can dock the Lavie Mini to its Gaming Controller to easily transform it into a portable console.

You can also put it into its HDMI dock to expand its I/O options to include more display outputs, and USB Type-C and Type-A connections. The dock can also charge the ultraportable so you don’t have to mess about with additional cables. In addition to its portable and flexible nature, the Lavie Mini comes with an IR camera that supports Windows Hello. A 26Whr battery powers the device to keep you working and playing while on-the-go.

Lenovo Lavie Pro Mobile

The Lavie Pro Mobile is for those who prefer a traditional ultralight laptop. While it isn’t as flexible as the Mini, it still retains its thin profile at just 16.7mm and lightweight nature weighing at 889 grams. Like its smaller brother, it packs Intel’s 11th Generation Core i7 processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics to provide full processing capabilities.

Its display is a 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS screen. Lenovo is throwing in 16GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 512GB of internal SSD storage as well as support for WiFi 6. The device also comes with a non-backlit keyboard with 1.5mm key travel as well as a 49Whr battery, which Lenovo claims can last up to 10 hours depending on the usage.

Pricing and Availability

The Lavie Pro mobile will have its price start at USD 1,699.99 (PhP 80,000). It is expected to arrive in the U.S. first with other countries following suit. The price and availability of the Lavie Mini, however, is yet to be announced by Lenovo.
