Lenovo Legion gaming notebooks upgraded to AMD Zen 3 CPUs and RTX 30 series GPUs

-

Lenovo is updating their range of Legion gaming notebooks to a more modern standard by equipping them with AMD’s Zen 3 Cezanne CPUs and NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs. Some of them will even be receiving new 16:10 displays with fast refresh rates and low response times.

Lenovo Legion 7

One of their flagships this generation, the Lenovo Legion 7 can now be decked with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5900H with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. Its gaming performance can be felt through its 16.0-inch 16:10 2560 x 1600 IPS display with a refresh rate of 165Hz. Its display also boasts a 90% screen-to-body ratio as well as support for Dolby Vision and NVIDIA G-Sync.

Lenovo Legion Slim 7

A slimmer and more portable version of the 7, the Legion Slim 7 packs the same AMD Ryzen 9 5900H CPU combined with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Max-Q GPU in a 1.9kg package. You can choose a 15.6-inch 1080p 100% Adobe RGB IPS display running at 144Hz or a 15.6-inch 3840 x 2160 100% sRGB 60Hz screen depending on your needs.

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro packs a 15.6-inch 16:10 2560 x 1600 display at 165Hz with support for NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync. Its screen also has a 90% screen-to-body ratio and support for Dolby Vision. Its insides have been updated to carry up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5800H CPU and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 discrete graphics.

Lenovo Legion 5

The Legion 5 might be the most affordable in the Legion range this generation but it’s anything but cheap. Like the Pro version, it comes it can be decked out with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5800H CPU and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU.

It does lose the 16:10 display opting instead to use a more traditional 15.6-inch 16:9 1920 x 1080 100% sRGB display. You can, however, opt to use a larger 17.0-inch 192 x 1080 144Hz screen with 100% sRGB color accuracy.

Additional Features, Price, and Availability

All Lenovo Legion notebooks this generation will come with Lenovo AI Engine to enable dynamic CPU and GPU power distribution for improved performance, Coldfront 3.0 cooling system, Nahimic Audio, TrueStrike keyboard with an optional 4-zone RGB lighting, as well as USB Type-C Power Delivery charging.

All four Legion notebooks are expected to make their way onto the market within the 1st quarter of 2021. Pricing for the devices are:
