Lexar has showcased plenty of storage and memory options for consumers at Computex 2024. Their booth at the event includes plenty of new external and internal SSDs, faster desktop memory kits, and high-speed storage options for creators.
One of their new flagships PCIe 5.0 SSD is the Lexar Professional NM1090 M.2 2280 SSD. Available in 1TB and 4TB capacities, it can reach up to 12,000MB/s and 11,000MB/s in sequential read and writes. They are equipping it with an Active Fan Heatsink with RGB to ensure smooth operation and maintain low temperatures.
Joining the NM1090 are the Lexar Professional NM990 and NM980 PCIe 5.0 M.2 2280 SSDs. Both come with a compact form factor though the latter can reach 14GB/s and 12GB/s sequential reads and writes, respectively, while the latter sports a low-power mode to ensure lower temperatures and power consumption for notebook users.
Those who have a PS5 can take a look at the Play 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD. It delivers up to 7,400MB/s and 6,500MB/s sequential read and write speeds, respectively, nearly twice as much compared to last generation SSDs. Have a large library? The SSD can be configured up to 8TB of capacity to store all your games locally.
For memory, Lexar is introducing the Ares RGB DDR5 RAM kit. Powered by SK Hynix DRAM chips with the SK Hynix Certification, they can reach up to 7,600MT/s or 8,000MT/s. These kits will also come with an upgraded exterior design with aluminum heat spreaders to cool its chips, RGB LED lighting compatible with Lexar RGB Sync, and Intel XMP 3.0.
Lexar has also released portable SSDs for those who need faster storage while on-the-go. The Lexar SL400 Portable SSD is designed for smartphone content creators delivering up to 1,050MB/s sequential reads and 1,000MB/s sequential write speeds all while being rated at IP65 for dust and water resistance as well as a 1-meter drop resistance durability.
Meanwhile, iPhone users can take advantage of the Lexar SL500 with Magnetic set to attach the drive on your device. You can then reliably store Apple ProRes Storage on the drive if you’re using the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
If you need the utmost protection for your data, the ARMOR 700 Portable SSD uses the USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 protocol to reach read and write speeds of up to 2,000MB/s while still having an IP66 shell to repel against water and dust plus its rugged design can withstand drops of up to 3 meters.
This generation’s memory cards will now include the Lexar Play Pro microSDXC Express card. Available in 128GB to 1TB, it uses PCIe when used with an SD Express Host to reach 900MB/s and 600MB/s in sequential reads and writes, respectively.
The Lexar Professional SDXC Express Card can reach up to 1,700MB/s and 1,000MB/s read and write speeds, sequentially. With a standard UHS-I host, however, it can still reach up to 104MB/s. It will be available in capacities from 128GB to 1TB.
UHS-I hosts like cameras can take advantage of the Lexar Professional Silver Plus SDXC UHS-I Card and Lexar Professional Silver Plus microSDXC UHS-I card. Both can reach 205MB/s and 150MB/s read and write speeds, respectively, allowing to support 4K60fps video with smooth capture.
For the high end, Lexar will be offering new CFExpress 4.0 and SD3.0 devices. The Professional Diamond CFexpress 4.0 Type-B Card offers a maximum read and write speeds of 3,7000MB/s and 3,400MB/s, respectively, which enables 8K RAW video to accelerate post-production work. On the other hand, the Professional CFexpress 4.0 Type-A Card Gold Series can reach 1,800MB/s and 1,650MB/s max read and write speeds to support 8K RAW video.
Also on display is the Lexar Professional Workflow – a versatile 6-bay docking station compatible with Workflow readers for CFexpress, SD, microSD, and portable SSDs. Using Thunderbolt 4, it can deliver speeds up to 40Gbps. There’s also a 2-bay docking station variant that allows on-location file backups without a laptop with speeds of up to 10Gbps.
