LG joins the notched display club with the G7 ThinQ

The follow up for the LG G6 is here. The LG G7 ThinQ joins the notched display club with its 6.1-inch 19.5:9 3120 x 1440 display. The G7 also comes with thinner bezels even more so compared to the G6’s FullVision screen.

Aside from the notches, the G7’s display uses LCD with a new M+ panel that utilizes RGBW LED lighting. LG promises that this new screen improves contrast, will reach 1,000nits of brightness, and displays 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

LG has also implemented their own variant of an AI with the G7. The smartphone will be the one of the first devices to get Google Lens. Google Lens, for the uninitiated, is a new way to search using the latest AI and computer vision. It is available inside Google Assistant and Google Photos to automatically identify information on objects such as landmarks, plants, animals, books, and identify text. The G7’s AI functionality can be launched by a single tap via key just below the volume button.

In terms of hardware, the LG G7 ThinQ comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with 4GB RAM, and 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 2TB; fitting internals for a flagship.

For photography buffs, the G7 will come with a dual rear camera setup; a 16MP f/1.9 107° wide angle lens and a 16MP f/1.6 71° shooter. The front, meanwhile, will have an 8MP f/1.9 80° camera.
