With Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 having such a large debacle for its battery issues, Samsung is now focusing their efforts to lowering risks in batteries igniting or exploding.

In a report, Samsung SDI and LG Chem are now developing batteries that will minimize any issues or imminent danger to the user. These solid-state batteries are hailed as the new innovation for batteries. These may replace lithium-ion batteries in smartphones and electric cars. We may see products that are equipped with these batteries within two years.

Instead of having liquid electrolytes like lithium-ion batteries which has a tendency to ignite when exposed to air or water, these new solid-state batteries use solid electrolytes to prevent ignition.
