LG is introducing a new smartphone lineup under their belt: the Velvet series. While the Korean brand hasn’t shared any solid information in terms of specifications, it seems that the new selection will be using their new design language.

LG is setting up the Velvet series to be distinct compared to other smartphones with a “tactile” elegance. The back will sport with what they call a Raindrop camera design. The main camera will have the largest footprint at the back with the other cameras and LED flash having a smaller profile to “evoke images of falling raindrops.”

A new design element that will make its debut on the LG Velvet series is 3D Arc Design. Edges of the display and rear will be symmetrically curved in order to have a more natural feeling in the hand in contrast to other LG handsets.

The term “velvet” was used for the new smartphone series to capture “images of lustrous smoothness and premium softness,” both of which are essential characteristics of the new smartphone.

Though LG’s Velvet series don’t have an exact date of launch yet, rumors suggest that the new lineup will make its debut this coming May 15, 2020.
