A joint memorandum from Department of Inromation and Communications Technology (DICT) undersecretary Eliseo Rio Jr., National Telecommunications Commission Chairman Gamaliel Cordoba, and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) secretary Ramon Lopez has been signed on December 20, 2017 to allow the one year expiration of pre-paid load for telcos.

Expected to take effect on January 7, 2018, the on year validity for the decision was made with the advice of the local telcos because there are still costs involved maintaining load.

“Taking into consideration that more than 90% of the costs of the networks are fixed, the carrying cost-per-subscriber has decreased as the number of subscribers has increased…” said Ramon Lopez.
