What Makes a Good Office Printer?

Buying a new printer for your office can be a bit of a puzzle and a confusing process. Aside from thinking about the cost and the printer’s overall printing quality, you need to consider some specifications like printing speed, cost-efficiency, ease-of-use and more.

In this article, we’re going to check if Brother’s new A3 Inkjet Multi-Function Centre Series can deliver and if it will mark all of the characteristics of a good office printer.

Print Speed

The speed at which a printer operates is one of the most important features of an office computer as it will need to work faster than a normal printer because there are a number of people who’re going to use it. A printer speed of at least 10 color pages per minute and 20 monochrome pages per minute is a minimum standard to look for in a printer.

Brother’s A3 Series claims that it can print fast up to 20 colored pages per minute and 22 for monochrome pages. It also features a Fast Mode that increases printing speed up to 35 pages per minute.

Ink Replacement Costs

Consider the replacement cost of ink when buying an office printer; compare the yield that can be expected from the ink or toner cartridge. You can calculate your estimated cost-per-page by dividing the cost of the cartridge by the expected yield.

The cost efficiency of Brother’s Inkbenefit cartridges is competitive too. Each InkBenefit super high yield lasts up to 3,000 and 1,500 pages for black and color, respectively. It also features an Ink Save Mode that helps you save on the ink consumption, too. High Yield cartridges are available as well with outputs of up to 550 pages for only P695 for Black and P595 for color.

Printing Quality

If you’re not familiar, printing quality is measured in dots per inch. For black and white pages, the minimum resolution would be 600 x 600 dots per inch and a high quality is somewhere around 2400 x 1200. For colored pages, the minimum standard is at 1200 x 1200 and a dpi of 4800 x 2400 is already considered to have excellent quality printouts.

Brother’s A3 Multi-Function Series promises to create eye-catching documents and presentations. With up to 4800×1200 dpi, the printing quality results in highly professional business documents with crisp details.

Duty Cycle

A printer’s duty cycle is what you can consider as its lifespan too. It is the maximum number of pages that should be printed per month. Printers that are to be used in an office setting should have a high duty cycle in the 20,000 to a 25,000-page range.

Brother’s Multi-Function Centres are claimed to be constructed for robust use with durable materials and enhanced components. They also stated that duty cycle can last up to 100,000 prints that is way beyond the standard lifespan of an office printer.

Connectivity and Other Features

A Wi-Fi-compatible office printer can be configured to operate securely in the office’s network. Today, it’s a must-have feature for an office computer so employees won’t have the need to stand up, plug their laptop, and print away from their office desk.

Brother’s new printers are compatible with wide range of mobile and cloud print and scan solutions including Brother’s iPrint&Scan, Apple AirPrint, Mopria, and Google Cloud Print, which work directly with the mobile device. Brother’s award-winning WebConnect technology also allows businesses to interact with Facebook as well as popular cloud storage services such as Dropbox, One Drive, and Google Drive.
