In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2), players can perform a Master Strike, a counterattack that can severely damage and even end opponents. Get to know how to get the master strike, how to do it, and some tips using this guide.
An early rumour in the game given by Bara the Beggar. Master Tomcat can be found near the camp at Rocktower Pond. Visiting him allows Henry to hone his swordsmanship skills, giving you access to more advanced moves. Master Tomact can teach you about combos and other know-hows in handling swords in KCD2. However, the most important one is that he can teach you about the Master Strike.
You can learn Master Strike once you finish the first Combat Training with Master Tomcat.
Master Strikes can be classified as a type of defense or counterattack as you need to wait for an enemy to strike before you can execute it. It’s a very damaging move that cannot be blocked by any shield or parry. If executed well, these Master Strikes can be quite devastating and can end duels faster.
The Master Strike is a counterattack and can be executed if you perform an attack from the opposite direction. This means that you have to perform an attack from below when your opponent attacks from above; an attack from the left when your opponent strike from the right, and so on. It may sound difficult but the rewards of executing it well are numerous.
If timed well, Henry will land a damaging blow to the enemy that can neither be blocked nor countered.
Unfortunately for blunt weapon-users and pole users, the Master Strike can only be performed with swords. You have to equip either a one-handed sword or a two-handed long sword (or one-hand a long sword if you have the required perk) to execute a Master Strike.
Two can play at the Master Strike game. Always remember that enemies with swords can also perform Master Strikes. The more difficult the enemy, the more likely they watch your mistakes and weapon positioning. Take note of this and try to mix up your combat moves with dodges, combos, perfect blocks, and ripostes.
Do not try to execute Master Strike all the time as you would likely end up dead and hammered to bits. Mix it up!
This also means that the restriction applies to enemies as well. Enemies that carry blunt weapons and polearms are incapable of countering you with Master Strikes.
