In a surprising announcment, Microsoft acquires SwiftKey for USD 250 Million! Yeah you read that right, the intuitive keyboard app which is installed on 300 million mobile devices for iOS and Android (No Windows Phone App) was just recently acquired by Microsoft.

Microsoft is planning to integrate SwiftKey in their attempt to improve their artificial intelligence system of the future and personal computing experience. They also promised that apps they have purchase will still be free or available on Android and iOS systems, including SwiftKey.

The 150 SwiftKey employees will joinn Microsoft Research under the division of Harry Shum. Notably, astrophysicist Stephen Hawking uses Swiftkey technology.
