In Modern Warfare 2 (CODMW2 2022), the seventh mission that players get to experience is called “Close Air”. Get to know how to navigate this mission, walkthrough, and useful tips using this guide.
Modern Warfare 2 Close Air Mission Walkthrough
- Observe the battlefield. Turn on your thermals and pan your camera to Ghost and the team.
- Follow the truck leaving the stables. Zoom out and point your camera at the greenhouse, to where Ghost is pointing the IR laser. Wait for the go signal to fire. Fire at the enemy outside the greenhouse. Clear all enemies and be wary of landing shots on structures.
- Wait for Ghost and the gang to reach the stables. Provide support and confirm if your targets are either civilians or active combatants. Destroy the vehicles or eliminate the infantry coming out from them.
- Level the stables after you get the go signal. Proceed to do the same on the greenhouse. Wait for Ghost and the team to advance to the compound. Destroy the shed then blast down the doors to the compound.
- Wait for the ground team to capture Hassan. In the meantime, guard the exterior of the compound and eliminate the enemy reinforcements. Watch the entry points and prepare to fire at vehicles and groups of infantry. Again, be wary of firing at civilians

Completing Close Air rewards you with a “Double XP Token” that you can use in both co-op and multiplayer.

Don’t Fire At Buildings
During the opening of this mission, you are forbidden to fire near buildings. Be extra careful when aiming with AOE fire as you may damage buildings without even intending to hit them. Don’t worry about this limitation later though as the mission removes it as you progress.
Watch Out For Civilians
Aside from buildings, you should also take care not to land shots onto civilians. Watch out for those that don’t carry weapons and also take care to not shoot at everyone that is running away from an area. Look out for weapons before you shoot and feel free to zoom in to confirm.
Predict Where Enemies Are Going
As you are way above the battlefield, firing takes time to reach the ground. If you are firing at moving enemies, predict where they are going to land your shots. When eliminating infantry, the LTM and the 40MM shots deal damage over a large area so missing a bit is alright.
