Modern Warfare 2 Countdown Campaign Mission Walkthrough & Guide

In Modern Warfare 2 (CODMW2 2022), the seventeenth and final mission that players get to experience is called “Countdown”. Get to know how to navigate this mission, walkthrough, and useful tips using this guide.

Looking For Hassan

1. Follow Price and rappel down from the edge. You can flip your orientation if you find it jarring but note that you’ll easily be seen if you go upright. Head down and shoot the two enemies. Be careful not to shoot at any of the hostages.
2. Head further down and kill the four terrorists on the next level. Continue to the next floor to meet another five baddies. This one’s different though as two targets are moving. Make sure to have a good view of all of them before you start firing. Once everything’s clean, rendezvous with Price and rappel into the building.
3. Enter the server room and engage the enemies inside. It is highly recommended that you take either an SMG or a shotgun for these tight fights. After clearing all enemies, head into the second server room.
4. Be prepared to move around as enemies are more numerous here. They also have someone with a riot shield so move fast and flank. Pick up weapons if you find yourself running out of ammo during the fight. Clear the rooms to advance.
5. Enter the control room and find that Hassan has turned tail. Rappel down again with Price. Note that you don’t have to enter immediately and you can use your position to shoot down enemies first. Get in once the coast is clear.
6. Defend yourself from the incoming enemy waves. Be extra careful when battling the armored guys as they come in groups. Move around and transfer from cover to cover until you eliminate all enemies.
7. Head to the stairwell and move downstairs with Price. Go right and assist Gaz as he and his team fight against armored troops. You can refill your ammo using the bag beside Gaz. Clear the room and interact with Price’s snakecam to progress.

Fighting Hassan

1. Get into the elevator shaft. Wait for it to fall down and then jump to the side with the red light immediately. Fall down onto Hassan and get the Missile Controls. Run away and find a safe spot.
2. Go around and collect crafting materials. Craft Gas Traps and look for chokepoint to plant them. Hide inside a room or a corner and start using the Missile Controls. Follow the prompts to override the launch. One important thing to know here is that you can pause this to run away from Hassan and his guards. It’s also worth noting that this is timed so best shutdown the Missile as soon as you can.
3. After dealing with the missile, your focus should now be on taking down Hassan’s guards. The wandering guards are armored and cannot be beaten using just simple means. Go around the map until you find a red toolbox. Open it with a Pry Tool to get a boxcutter which you can use as a makeshift knife.
4. Gas trap is essential here as you need to stun enemies first before you can do a melee takedown. Good thing is that if they were affected by gas traps before, you can melee them when they cough. Be patient and take down both guards to finally have a direct confrontation against Hassan.
5. Shoot Hassan.

Don’t Shoot The Hostages

During the first part of this mission, you’ll be tasked to eliminate enemy targets guarding hostages. As most are wearing civilian clothing, it may be hard to figure out who’s who and there’s a risk of accidentally shooting at the hostages during a frenetic fight. Take your time and figure out the enemies before you start shooting. The enemies can’t see you until you shoot so wait for the opportunity and collect intel first.

Gas The Enemies First

During the fight against Hassan, you are tasked to first eliminate his two armored guards. Look for chemicals and other crafting materials in the area to craft Gas Traps. These traps are incredible as they also temporarily stun the enemy soldiers from time to time as they stop and cough for a few seconds. Use this opportunity to strike them with a takedown attack once you have a boxcutter.

Get The Boxcutter

The boxcutter is the melee weapon of choice when taking down the trained armored bodyguards. To find the boxcutter, you first need to have a Pry Tool which can be crafted easily using the boatload of materials available in the level. Use the Pry Tool to open the red toolboxes scattered around the area. Opening a toolbox with a Pry Tool makes a lot of noise so be prepared to have the enemies on your tail after you get the boxcutter.
