MSI is expanding their range of handhelds at Computex 2025. After the Claw 8 AI+, their late 2024 entry, they are now introducing the Claw 8 AI+ Polar Tempest Edition and the new Claw A8 BZ2EM. While the former is considered only a refresh of the Claw 8 AI+, the Claw A8 is a full-fledged new release packing the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor.
The new Claw A8 pairs its AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor with up to 24GB LPDDR5-8000 memory and PCIe 4.0 x4 storage. Its 8-inch 1920 x 1200 display runs at 120Hz, supports 100% sRGB clor space, and also comes with VRR. We also get two USB4 Type-C ports (both of which are Thunderbolt 4 compatible), which can be used for charging and external displays.
On the other hand, the Claw 8 AI+ Polar Tempest Edition still comes with the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor 258V paired with 32GB of LPDDR5x-8533 memory. Its storage is larger than its predecessor at 2TB running at PCIe 4.0 x4. Its display is similar to that of the A8 with an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 120Hz 100% sRGB VRR screen. It will also come with two Thunderbolt 4 ports for charging, external displays, and even external GPUs.
Official pricing and availability for the MSI Claw A8 and Claw A8+ Polar Tempest Edition are yet to be announced. Stay tuned.
