The day has finally arrived. After the initial release of the new Terminators two years ago (yes, it’s been that long since Leviathan), we now get the close-combat versions, Assault Terminators, in the latest edition of Warhammer 40,000. These beefy walking tanks with hammers and shields have been officially revealed and will be available in the future. Want to know more about them? Would you even get them? Read on to know more!

Yeah, we get it. Another Space Marines release.

New Assault Terminators Details

Thunder Hammers & Shields Are Back In Style!

Terminators Thunder Hammer Storm Shields

Our chonky boys are back with the iconic melee loadout. Assault Terminators come with Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields, a combo as perfect as peanut butter and jam. Although slow these sturdy units can smash through most defenses while having enough armor to ignore most damage that can rip people in half. Oh, and they also look cool.

POWER CLAWS!

Terminators Power Claws

Want to lean more on the damage part of things? See Terminators with Power Claws! Made to combat against groups of enemy small fry, these Terminators can mince almost anything. It’s great to see them in a more modern look with proportions not out of place as their previous incarnation.

Compare The New With The Old

To help save you from memorizing and swapping tabs, check the above images to compare the new Assault Terminators to the old ones which were made 20 years ago. Note that the above models are from the base Assault Terminators and not the faction-exclusive models such as the Blood Angels Assault Terminators.

Assault Terminator Squad Customization

Also detailed in the official article are the customization options for the Assault Terminator Squad. Each squad comes with the following options to choose from:

  • 6 x Unhelmeted Heads
  • 5 x Helmets
  • 7 x Tilting Plates
  • 15 x Accessories (Purity Seals, Oaths of Moment, Badges, etc.)
  • 2 x Sergeant Heads
  • 1 x Special Storm Shield

Plenty of extra plastic in each squad making them good sources for kitbashes and customization options for other squads.

New Assault Terminators Price

Likely To Be US$65 Or £42.5

Assault Terminator Squad Price

Although not yet released, the Assault Terminators would likely have the same price as their ranged counterpart. As of the writing of this article, the standard Terminators with five models in a box costs US$65 or £42.5 in the UK. It is very possible that this will be the price of the Assault Terminator box once it comes out and appear on shelves. Provided that we do not get any price increases while waiting.

New Assault Terminators Release Date

No Release Date But…

Crux Terminatus Box Set

No release date for the Assault Terminators as of yet but you can grab it via the newly announced box set: The Crux Terminatus Battleforce. These box set is filled with chonky boys, boasting a total number of 18 Terminators in a box, 10 of which are Assault Terminators. Referencing recently released Battleforce boxes, we can say that the price of this one is likely to hover around US$230 or £140. No release date as of yet for this Battleforce box.

Maybe In A Month?

Remember the Emperor’s Children Box Set that was released last April? The release of the models in that box were not immediate and the stand-alone boxes released in a trickle. That being said, we may see the Assaault Terminators releasing after a month or more after the release of the Crux Terminatus Battleforce box. While we can hope that they do release the week after, as they say in Dawn of War: “hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.”

Hopefully, they do release the stand-alone Assault Terminator boxes just before Christmas so we can grab three of it as we buy another Battleforce Box Set that we say we will paint in a month or two (and will then be left to rot on a shelf for two-three years).

Check out other recently revealed models: the new Jump Pack Captain with Thunder Hammer and Marneus Calgar’s new shiny model.
