Warhammer 40,000 has a new updated model for Marneus Calgar. Again. Although this is the nth time of the Chapter Master having his model remade, there’s one particular feature in this model: Marneus Calgar is back in Terminator Armor. Ditching his Gravis Armour, Calgar returns to the battlefield with his shiny and iconic Armor of Antilochus this time. Excited? So are we! When is this model going to be released and how much would it cost? Read on!
This is part of an official announcement that includes the unveiling of a new Cato Sicarius model and a Victrix Honour Guard set.
Before 8th Edition was released, the fabled Chapter Master of the Ultramarines led and bled inside a Terminator Armor. Now, we’re back to where that came from. Probably because Terminator Armor is much cooler than Gravis Armor (fight in the poll below!) But then again, there’s no doubt that Terminator Armor is cool as heck and seeing this character back in action in it is a sight to behold.
The new model will still be armed with Calgar’s Iconic Gauntlets of Ultramar and will still feature his very own tactical rock/pillar minus the tactical Tyranid Hormogaunt head.
Although we get back to what was once great, there’s no denying that we will also lose something in the process: the two Victrix Guards. Marneus Calgar’s package (I mean, box set) comes with two guards to accompany him in his march. However, it seems like those two guys are now going to be sold in a separate box instead. What this also means is that we’re going to pay more for a single miniature this time.
But hey, they’re having their own box in the recently announced new Victrix Guard kit.
Surprisingly, even after the official announcement, we can still purchase the Gravis Armor Marneus Calgar online, together with his two bodyguards. Since release, it’s not far to expect that this version will slowly be removed from both online and local shops.
The new Marneus Calgar will very likely have a price tag of US$45 or £28. This is based on the pricing of recently released hero models such as Aethon Shaan of the Raven Guard, Vulkan He’stan of the Salamanders, and Darnath Lysander of the Imperial Fists.
While it was not announced officially, we can deduce from previous releases that the arrival of the new Marneus Calgar model would be around November to December. Based on recent releases of Space Marine hero models, pre-orders for them started two months after their announcements. We can expect the same for the new Marneus Calgar in Terminator Armor.
