A new Space Marine before GTA6? Color me surprised. Anyway, Warhammer Community just announced a new model – a new Space Marine Captain, surprising nobody. Just after the announcement of new Space Marine models like Marneus Calgar, a new Jump Pack Captain joins the ranks. This time, with a Relic Shield and a Thunder Hammer. How much is this model? When is it going to be released? Read to know more!
Unlike the usual kit that you can buy right now. The Space Marine Jump Pack Captain has some new toys to bring into the battle. No longer do you have to scrounge those Assault Intercessor kits and Blade Guard Veteran kits for hammers and shields as they now come with the box. Smash Captain is officially back, baby!
If you don’t like the Thunder Hammer, you can replace it with a Chainsword (but why would you?) The kit also comes with a helmet to hide and protect the squishy part. It was also mentioned that this will be part of the regular line-up of Space Marines, so it’s going to be a regular kit that you can purchase.
While I too would like to be as hopeful as you are, the chances of this kit being combined with the old one is currently zero. Both kits have different bases and we all know how this goes – two kits means more purchases which is a win for GW. Either way, it seems like there two separate kits are a sealed deal. Though there is hope in the future that the two will be combined in one box (hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.)
The model will likely have the same price as the available Captain with Jump Pack model. Priced at US$42 Or £26, the model will probably have the same price tags as other Captain models except the more expensive Terminator one.
Unlike some announcements, we finally have a date to pinpoint for the release of this new Space Marine Jump Pack Captain. Based on the official announcement, we can expect this model to be released on Warhammer Day which is set to happen this coming late October. The model will be available for pre-order before Warhammer Day so best set your alarms to fire up so you can pre-order!
Just for reference, Warhammer Day was held last year on the 5th of October. A large number of previews were announced and it did not only cover Warhammer 40,000. Part of what were announced were updates in the table top games that Games Workshop carries and also the highly anticipated Battleforce box sets. With that said, we can expect the same thing this year. Maybe a new faction reveal? Who knows. This is also the day when you get to find out what you have to buy this coming Christmas.
