Initially announced as the Nokia X7 in China, the Nokia 8.1 is now ready to hit the global market. HMD Global’s latest smartphone entry comes, as expected, with a notched screen and ZEISS lenses.
The Nokia 8.1 sports a notched 6.18-inch IPS PureDisplay with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 that promises to deliver 500nits of brightness as well as support HDR10 content. The screen also flaunts 96% NTSC color gamut and DCI-P3 support.
Peeking through the notched display is a single 20MP f/2.0 selfie camera while the rear houses a 12MP f/1.8 Dual Pixel PDAF + 13MP secondary shooter courtesy of ZEISS. The rear cameras are backed by dual LED flash.
Inside the Nokia 8.1 (2018) is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. Providing the juice to the smartphone is a 3,500mAh battery with fast charging, which HMD Global says can reach 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes.
