Nokia has brought back its classics ever since they were taken over by HMD Global. One of the classics they have brought to the modern era was the Nokia 3310 and more recently, the 8110. With their MWC 2018 appearance, they have now revived another classic name, the Sirocco.

The first phone to carry the name Sirocco was the Nokia 8800 Sirocco. Twelve years after the original Sirocco’s inception, a successor has been finally been deemed worthy; the Nokia 8 Sirocco.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco comes packed with features worthy of its name. The display is composed of a 5.5-inch pOLED screen with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Imaging is handled by a dual camera setup: 12MP primary camera powered by a Zeiss lens and a 13MP telephoto secondary camera capable of 2x optical zoom. Selfies, meanwhile, are taken care by a 5MP wide-angle camera.

Inside the smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. The Nokia 8 Sirocco is powered by a 3,260mAh battery with Qi wireless support and fast charging that Nokia claims to charge up to 50% in just 30 minutes. It is quite significant, however, that the Nokia 8 Sirocco is missing a 3.5mm jack. So if you’re a fan of wired headsets and want a Nokia 8 Sirocco, then you’re relegated in using adapters.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco is expected to arrive on the market in April for EUR 799 or around PhP 51,000.
