The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 has officially made its debut. It is bringing the RTX 40 series to a more mainstream price point at USD 599. The card promises top-notch performance at 1440p and can hit more than 100fps on demanding titles like Dyingh Light 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide thanks to DLSS 3.
DLSS 3 is an RTX 40 series technology that use AI-powered frame generation to create frames for smoother gameplay. It renders seven out of every eight pixels in a scene while responsiveness is maintained via NVIDIA Reflex.
Ray Tracing performance is improved thanks to Shader Execution Reordering, Opacity Micromap, and Displaced Micro-Mesh engines. Games can now use better multiple ray-tracing effects or full ray tracing, also known as path tracing, for realism and immersion.
According to NVIDIA, the RTX 4070 is 2.6x faster with DLSS 3 and on average 1.4x faster than last generation’s RTX 3080. It is also using an additional 2GB VRAM for a total of 12GB GDDR6X video memory than the RTX 3080 while running at a rated 200W TGP.
The card will also support AV1 encoding to boost efficiency by up to 40 percent on livestreams. Image quality is increased with the encoder while editors can see a gain of 20% faster video export speeds.
