The latest addition to OnePlus’ mainline smartphone range is now official. Both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro elevates the definition of a flagship smartphone for the company by offering improved displays, 5G connectivity, and top-notch camera specifications.
Let’s start off with the base model of the OnePlus 8 series. The OnePlus 8 packs a 6.78-inch Fluid AMOLED 2400 x 1080 display with support for HDR10+ as well as being protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The device also has an in-display fingerprint scanner and a faster 90Hz refresh rate compared to most smartphones in the market which only has 60Hz.
In the camera department, the OnePlus 8 comes with a 16MP f/2.0 IMX471 front-facing camera for selfies. Meanwhile, the back is populated by a triple camera setup composed of a 48MP f/1.75 Sony IMX586 main camera, a 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and a 2MP f/2.4 macro lens as well as a Dual-LED Flash.
The device comes with a flagship-class Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip that also lends 5G connectivity to the smartphone. The smartphone runs on Android 10 with the company’s OxygenOS and gets its power from a 4,300mAh battery charged via its 30W Warp Charge via its USB Type-C port.

As the flagship of the series, the 8 Pro comes with an impressive sheet of specifications such as a 6.78-inch Fluid AMOLED 3168 x 1440 display with 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 1300nits and an integrated fingerprint scanner.
In terms of imaging, the OnePlus 8 Pro has a 16MP f/2.4 Sony IMX471 shooter at the front. The back houses a quad camera setup headed by a 48MP f/1.78 Sony IMX689 main camera, a 48MP f/2.2 Sony IMX586 ultrawide, an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens, and a 5MP f/2.4 color filter.
Like the OnePlus 8, the 8 Pro comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage. Powering the smartphone is a 4,510mAh battery with 30W Warp Charge, 30W Wireless Charging, and 3W Reverse Wireless Charging.
