Update: Price of the OPPO A39 is down to Php9,990
To start the year 2017, OPPO Philippines just updated their lineup with the new OPPO A39 selfie smartphone. The smartphone replaces last year’s entry level selfie smartphone the OPPO A37 which was designed more of beauty than brains.
But with OPPO gaining momentum in the #SelfieExpert tagline, they improved their lineup with the A39 by proving the best selfies experience on a smartphone for a little more than just Php10,000 pesos.
How do they do that? Here are the major improvements
The screen is now bigger at 5.2″ with a HD 720p resolution, it’s IPS display panel delivers wide angle and color accurate pixels for a natural looking visual. This is protected by the new 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for better drop and scratch resistance.
While on paper the Oppo A39 still has a 5MP front facing camera, you don’t need to frown as remember that megapixels count isn’t always everything. For starters, the sensor size of the Oppo A39 is now upsized to 1/4 of an inch, this is bigger to entry level cameras at just 1/8 of size.
This means that more light, color, details can enter the sensor as compared to the previous generation. Plus, thanks to the bigger sensor size the pixel size of the camera is now fairs as flagship smartphones at 1.4 µm (normally its 1.0 µm).
This means that light can enter each pixel for 38% brighter photos, better details and faster processing speed cause the megapixel count is 5MP which is lighter for processing speed.
The same beautification mode of OPPO is found at the A39 for a natural looking beautification. More of the light makeup look rather than the over radical changed face.
If OPPO improved the sensor size on the front, they also did the same at the back. It’s now 1/3 of an inch at 13MP, so night shots are even brighter as compared to before
The A39 now comes in an Octa-Core MediaTek 6750 processor Mali-T860 graphics, enough for everyday applications of social media, medium gaming, camera shoots and even editing of photos in Instagram or Snapseed.
Plus the A39 now comes is a more favorable 3GB RAM to multi-task faster than the previous generation. This is a much-needed feature if you will introduce a smartphone entering the Php10,000 range. Storage is now at 32GB standard which is great for storing apps internally and use a micro-SD for your photos and videos.
Call us spoiled but we love Oppo’s forward thinking of dedicating the dual-sim slot and micro SD expansion. So far OPPO is the only company consistent to implement this where we have only found this setup on a limited number of phones like the Galaxy A9.
Yup the battery is almost 3,000mAH but only 100 short, we think with the HD screen and power efficient processor will last this baby a day.
For Php10,990 the Oppo A39 is in tough competition with “bang for the buck smartphones”. But if all goes well, the A39 actually targets minimalist smartphone users who doesn’t need a 5.5″ smartphone but a more subtle 5.2″ screen size.
But on the other hand, if you need a 5.5″ screen smartphone then the bigger brother Oppo F1s is still available for Php12,990. Technically OPPO has your selfie experience covered all throughout their lineup.
