OPPO is updating their midrange A93 to have 5G capabilities. Launched late last year, the original A93 was launched with a Helio P95 and is now being refreshed with this year to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 platform in order to support 5G.
Aside from the updated chip, the OPPO A93 5G will now come with a 6.5-inch 2400 x 1080 IPS display running at 90Hz with a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The new chip will also be accompanied by 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of expandable internal storage.
Instead of quad-cameras, OPPO is dialing back its imaging capabilities to triple cameras composed of a 48MP f/1.7 main camera, and two 2MP f/2.4 secondaries for monochrome and macro photography. At the front is a single 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera.
As far as batteries go, it receives a larger 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W Fast Charging through its USB Type-C port at the bottom. It also comes with Android 11 out of the box with ColorOS 11.1 and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The OPPO A93 5G with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage is now available for pre-order in China for CNY 1,999 (PhP 15,000). No word yet about local availability or pricing.
