The Oppo F1s is part of the “Selfie” lineup of the brand. Centering more on the balance of everything, the new midrange phone is the momentum keeper of the brand to maintain their good performance in the Philippines and worldwide.

Specifications of Oppo F1s
Here is our take of the Oppo F1s and why we gave it an Admirable mid-range phone.
If there is one thing that we can say about the F1s, its just simply not left behind. Every aspect of the F1s is carefully taken care of with consideration. Here are the points why
Undeniably, the F1s looks like the iPhone 6s. Yes, we even fooled people around and keep on getting comments of the phone really looks like the iPhone. We got the gold color for review, the front panel is made of a 5.5″ screen with white bezels. Good thing that the bezels are respectively thin and not out of proportions, as an added bonus with the Gorilla Glass 4 glass there is already a protective screen included.
The screen is a 2.5D curved giving a more ergonomic touch similar to the Oppo A37. Good thing about this new trend is the ergonomic hold for the smartphone given the 5.5″ footprint.
The back has a top and bottom plastic plate that serves as the antenna. While the remaining back is made of an aluminium panel, the gold color is very subtle and doesn’t shout out. We pretty much like the color as it’s very friendly for both genders.
The 5.5″ HD Screen is enough for the phone, colors are nice and has good viewing angles. Though we had issue of looking through from the top or bottom as colors are easily getting washed out as compared from side to side.
Colors of the screen are good, has good white production. Color range is a bit saturated but appreciated since you’re looking into a smartphone. Brightness of the screen is good against sunlight and overall despite the 720p display its still above average.
Our issue with the included screen protector is that it sticks dust around, so the edges of the protector is accumulating dust making a gray line.
The bottom shows two speaker grills but it’s just actually one. Audio quality is average, there aren’t enough “ump” to the low tones which is expected for smartphones.
We love Oppo’s dedication to ports, with two Nano Sim cards and Micro SD Slot it’s very rare to see these configurations into new smartphones today. We believe that this can even be a deal breaker for some
The 13mp camera at the back has an aperture of 2.2, while the front camera is 16mp and has 2.0 aperture. Noticeably, the front camera is even better than the rear camera as Oppo is targeting here the selfie-centric market.
The rear camera speed is average in speed, colors are okay and brightness indoors is average. Unfortunately, due to the 2.2 aperture, the brightness even in indoor shots is sacrificed.
While on the other hand, taking selfies using the front camera is a delight. With more pixels to play around, the included software of beautification is able to deliver a fine detail for selfies.
The easy and intuitive options for the selfie, you choose the level of beautification that adjust the flawless of your face from levels 1-7. You can also control the tone from fair to rosy, for us the bar going a little to rosy and beautification at level 4 is acceptable.
The OS of the F1s is still the Color OS exclusively made by Oppo. This mimic the iOS useability to even the menu options. Yes, this means that even the camera settings must be altered in the settings menu.
But we aren’t complaining to this setup, given the lean typeface / fonts with gradient light colors give the F1s a very minimalist and premium UI look. From notifications to even the drop down menu, its not complicated to learn. Lastly, the clean UI compliments the screen of 720p thus it looks like you’re looking at 1080p cause of the design.
The performance of the 1.5GHz Octa-Core MediaTek processor won’t impress power users, but paired with 3GB RAM will make everything alright. In our usage scenario of Pokemon Go, heavy social media and work apps didn’t stop the F1s from doing its job.
The home button of the F1s also acts as the fingerprint sensor, the accuracy is fast and can be even programmable to launch a specific application per finger.
We love the super fast open time of the fingerprint sensor, its advertised 0.2 seconds open time seems to prove accurate.
The 3075mAh battery of the F1s paired with the energy-efficient 1.5Ghz MediaTek processor is a combination of both worlds. We were able to achieve more than 11 hours battery life on moderate use.
For Php12,990 you’re definitely getting a value phone with the Oppo F1s. Forget about people saying you’re using a MediaTek processor phone. The premium body, great display, good camera, good performance and ideal battery life makes everything balanced and impressive.
With the direction of Oppo in their new smartphones, we are looking into a pattern of premium value. The metal body, good OS, 2.5D curved screen are standard features we love, seen even at the entry-level Oppo A37.
Considering the phone even comes with accessories that are much appreciated, we give the Oppo F1s a recommendation if your budget is less than Php15 thousand pesos for a smartphone.
