The word is out and the invites are official, the OPPO F9 is set to launch in the Philippines on August 15, 2018. Allegedly sharing largely the same specifications as the F7, the OPPO F9 is now focusing on its VOOC fast charging to distance itself from OPPO’s past mid-range smartphone.
It is expected, based on the leaks, that the will OPPO F9 is a Helio P60; one of the first SoCs from MediaTek to have a focus on AI capabilities. To assist the Helio P60’s processing power is 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB of internal storage all running on Android 8.0 Oreo with OPPO’s own ColorOS 5.2
OPPO has minimized the presence of the notch in the OPPO F9 with what they call “Waterdrop” screen. This allows the F9 to reach a high screen-to-body ratio of 90.8%. The display is also expected to still have a FullHD+ resolution.
Previous rumors also say that the OPPO F9 will have a 25MP f/2.0 front-facing camera with Sensor HDR and AI Beauty Technology. At the rear, however, is a dual camera setup composed of a 16MP f1/.85 primary shooter and a 2MP secondary.
The F9 is anticipated to have a 3,500mAh battery backed by OPPO’s VOOC fast charging. The brand boasts that their fast charging tech allows the smartphone to reach up to 2 hours of talk time in just 5 minutes of charge.
The OPPO F9 will come in several gradient colors upon launch: Sunrise Red, Twilight Blue, and Starry Purple. OPPO hasn’t released yet the price of the F9, however, we expect its price to be near the OPPO F7 as the brand’s previous mid-ranger got a massive price cut back in July.
