After just a short time, OPPO has finally moved on from the notch that afflicted the last release cycle of smartphones. The OPPO Find X, officially announced this morning, comes with a notch-less display, pop-up cameras, a flagship-class Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, and a new beautification technology.
In terms of design, the biggest difference between the Find X and the OPPO F7 is its notch-less display. Called the Panoramic Arc Screen, the display is a 6.4-inch, 19.5:9, FHD+, OLED screen with a screen to body ratio of 93.8%. The screen has also been curved at the side to sit more ergonomically on the users’ hand.
With the screen completely taking over the front of the smartphone, OPPO has placed the 25MP front-facing camera and the dual 16MP + 20MP rear cameras on a motorized platform that rises up whenever the camera is activated. OPPO says that the platform rises up from the smartphone in just 0.5 seconds to have minimal delay whenever the user wants to use the smartphone’s cameras.
The Find X also comes with the latest iteration of OPPO’s AI Beautification. Called the 3D Smar Selfie Capture, the Find X uses O-Face Recognition which allows the smartphone’s AI to analyze facial characteristics to improve faces on your photos without making them too artificial.
OPPO has also implemented a version of animojis. Dubbed Omojis, OPPO users can now make their own cartoon avatars and create video or GIFs with them.
Camera performance has also been further improved with Sensor HDR 2.0. Since the HDR implementation is on the hardware-level, the Find X can get real-time pixel-level graded exposure to allow subjects and background to be more distinct within a selfie. Of course, AI scene detection comes standard with the Find X. The smartphone supports more than 20 scenarios of photography and around 800 combinations of scenes.
In terms of performance, the OPPO Find X has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage as is standard for a flagship smartphone. Power is supplied by a 3,730mAh battery backed by OPPO’s VOOC fast charging via its Type-C port, which was unveiled even before the launch of the Find X. Of course, the smartphone runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with OPPO’s latest version of the ColorOS.
