Teased several days ago, the OPPO Hyper Boost technology aims to bring the brand “towards an era of acceleration.” Designed to accommodate a wide range of usage scenarios and behaviors, this OPPO-exclusive solution optimizes system-level resource allocation on smartphones to boost overall performance.

Ryan Chen, Head of the Software Research Center of the OPPO Research Institute.

Hyper Boost works by enabling real-time “two-way dialogs” between applications and system resources. Depending on the recognized scenario and user behavior from a range of applications and games, Hyper Boost will optimize the allocation of resources across the system and reserve them to specific needs. OPPO says that this will ensure better utilization of hardware resources, increase response speed of applications and games, and lead to an overall smoother experience.

OPPO Hyper Boost offers acceleration at three different levels:

  • System Engine – Delivering system-level optimization on both Qualcomm and MediaTek platforms, the system engine gives more than 50 solutions for optimizing the utilization of underlying hardware resources against more than a combined 40 software scenarios and behaviors. This optimization helps general applications achieve up to 31.91% shorter loading times.
  • Game Engine – Working with game developers like Tencent and Netease as well as engines such as Unreal, Unity, and Cocos, OPPO’s Game Engine allows optimization on the Top 100 mobile games played on the platform including Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile. Network latency is also optimized by distributing the traffic between cellular and WiFi networks.
  • Application Engine – The first applications included by the Application Engine are WeChat, Mobile Taobao, and MobileQQ. Hyper Boost allows dramatic acceleration in 39 different scenarios across these heavily used apps.

Thanks to the close collaboration from its partners, OPPO has combined the optimization engines with devices, chip platforms, and applications across the industry with Hyper Boost to provide an underlying optimization to elevate the user experience on their smartphones.

OPPO, however, has not confirmed as to when or if its Hyper Boost technology will hit its existing smartphones in the market.
