After releasing the Find X in the Philippines, OPPO was poised to release even more premium smartphones in the market. Originally home to the F series, the Filipinos can now experience the premium OPPO experience with the brand’s first locally available R-series smartphone; the OPPO R17 Pro.
Like the OPPO F9, the OPPO R17 Pro comes with a waterdrop screen that minimizes the notch into a tiny dot at the top of the screen. The display on the smartphone is a 6.4-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 6 while the notch houses a 25MP f/2.0 shooter. The screen also houses a hidden fingerprint scanner that OPPO says is more ergonomic than rear-mounted fingerprint scanners.
It seems that manufacturers nowadays are now going with a gradient look with their smartphones. The OPPO R17 Pro’s rear comes with a dual-color gradient and houses its cameras: 12MP f/1.5 – f/2.4 + 20MP f/2.6 backed by a third TOF 3D Stereo camera for improved depth sensing. As with previous OPPO smartphones, AI has been included in the formula to let the camera decide to use different apertures depending on the conditions.
Inside the OPPO R17 Pro is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The smartphone comes with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with OPPO’s ColorOS 5.2. The whole device is powered by a 3,700mAh battery with SuperVOOC that promises 40 minutes of usage in just 10 minutes of charging.

Priced at PhP 38,990, The OPPO R17 Pro is available for pre-order until November 23, 2018. Those who will pre-order will get a free headset worth PhP 2,990. The OPPO R17 Pro is also available for a 9-month installment at 0% via Home Credit, Globe Plan 2499, and BPO credit card with a 24-month installment for 0% interest.
