This time around, the OPPO is introducing the Reno 10x Zoom. With an improved chipset over the F11 Pro as well as a brand new camera system, let’s unbox and check out the latest smartphone from OPPO.
The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom comes in a rather tall box than we’re usually accustomed to. Instead of having a plain text at the front, the text of the OPPO Reno is reflective to make the box seem more premium than it actually is.
Inside the box is all the accoutrement you expect from an OPPO device. Aside from the smartphone, you also get a case, a USB Type-C earphones, documentation, a USB Type-C cable, and a VOOC Fast Charging 20W wall adapter.
The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is striking to look at by itself. At the front is a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and a resolution of 2340 x 1080. The display is DCI-P3 capable allowing better color reproduction.
As you can probably tell, there’s no notch to be found on the smartphone. OPPO instead placed the 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera on a motorized shark fin platform that automatically pops up whenever selfie mode is activated on the camera app.
Thankfully, the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is one of the few smartphones from the brand to pack a USB Type-C connection at the bottom. For some reason, however, the brand has taken away the 3.5mm audio jack from the smartphone thus the USB Type-C earphones that it comes with.
Just beside its USB Type-C port are the smartphone’s bottom-firing speaker grille and a Hybrid SIM card tray. The SIM card tray supports two NANO SIM cards or you can sacrifice one of the slots for a 256GB MicroSD card to boost its 256GB internal storage.
At its rear is a vertically-aligned set of cameras. Its triple camera setup is composed of a 48MP f/1.7 main camera, a 13MP f/3.0 5x optical zoom telephoto lens, and an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide shooter.
We’ve taken a few test shots with the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom and we are impressed thus far by its camera capabilities. The main camera takes decent shots while the hybrid 10x zoom still retains the details of the subject.
The ultrawide camera, on the other hand, is also as impressive as the other cameras. Details are preserved while allowing depth in the shadows to come through.
Inside the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom’s rather thick shell is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 with up to 8GB of RAM. Currently, the device runs on Android 9.0 Pie with OPPO’s own ColorOS 6.0.
The whole device is powered by a 4,065mAh battery. OPPO has also thrown in their VOOC Fast Charging on the device allowing the smartphone to have 20W Fast Charging capabilities.
