The OPPO Reno series gets new life with the OPPO Reno 2 and Reno 2F. While their chipsets are not as powerful as the original OPPO Reno 10x, the OPPO Reno 2 series focuses on better photo and video while giving customers a cheaper alternative to other Reno smartphones.
The more powerful of the two, the OPPO Reno 2 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 inside with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
At the front of the Reno 2 comes with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080. The smartphone removes the notch by employing a 16MP f/2.0 shark-fin camera reminiscent of the one found on the OPPO Reno 10x.
The OPPO Reno 2 comes with a quad camera setup at the back composed of a 48MP f/1.7 IMX586 main camera, an 8MP f/2.4 ultrawide, a 13MP f/2.4 telephoto, and a 2MP f/2.4 portrait camera.
In addition to four lenses, the Reno 2 has 5x Hybrid Zoom and 20x Digital Zoom. The smartphone also improves on video stability with a combination of OIS + EIS technologies that can stabilize videos of up to 4K 30fps.
Powering the Reno 2 is a 4,000mAh non-removable battery. As expected, the smartphone comes with a USB Type-C connection at the bottom and is compatible with VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 charging.
While the OPPO Reno 2F is a bit less powerful than the Reno 2, the Reno 2F still looks good on paper. Under the hood, the Reno 2F has a MediaTek Helio P70 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via a dedicated MicroSD slot.
The Reno 2F largely comes with the same 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a 2340 x 1080 resolution. Like the Reno 2, an in-display fingerprint scanner can be found at the bottom half of the screen.
Like the Reno 2, the Reno 2F has four cameras at the back: a 48MP f/1.7 main, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide, a 2MP f/2.4 mono, and a 2MP f/2.4 portrait. OPPO has also thrown in an Ultra Night Mode on the camera to allow its users to get better photos in low-light.
While the Reno 2F sacks the shark-fin front-facing camera, it has been replaced by a 16MP f/2.0 pop-up camera.
The Reno 2F also comes with a 4,000mAh battery charged via a USB Type-C connection. It is also compatible with VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 to make the wait a bit shorter when it comes to charging.
