Philips Hue Now Available in the Philippines

Philips Hue, the pioneer of smart lighting for homes is now officially in the Philippines. Signify, formerly known as Philips Lighting is now officially distributing the Philips Hue lineup in the Philippines. As you may know, our studio in Hungry Geeks is already a smart-enabled lighting system, so it’s with joy we now see the growing market of smart appliances in the Philippines.

Initially available in two variants, the standalone 9W light bulb is available for Php2,990, while the starter kit with three lightbulbs and Philips Hue Bridge for Php10,390.

The Philips Hue has 16 million colored bulbs with up to 9W of power and can be controllable either Bluetooth or via the bridge of Philips. One bridge can control up to 50 devices and enough to power a house, additionally, the Philips Hue based on experience is the one that is compatible with most 60fps cameras without capturing the latency or lines. Making it great for content creators for their studios and even housing.

Interesting things to do is that the bulbs are programmable to brightness, colors, even time to wake up and sleep. So you can now achieve those sunrise-style waking up if you’re inside a room with no windows. Like for us, our lightbulb slowly brightens up for 30 minutes starting 5 am.

Asking Jagan Srinivasan, country leader of Signify Philippines he said that the Philips Hue lighting system aims to elevate the smart home industry in the Philippines, primarily it captures three-segment markets such as Home Decors, Home CIOs (Chief Information Officers), and architecture designers that want a new profile of element into house designing.

Srinivasan also said that Philips offers a good sustainable eco-system including aftersales support, especially that Filipino consumers are curious to try but hesitant. Srinivasan is confident that their after-sales support can solve most customer concerns, including troubleshooting.

Philips Hue also comes in other items such as strip lights, desk lamps, and accessories such as sensors to add flexibility in the home. But these devices will come by 2020, initially, the ones available right now are the Light Bulb and Starter Kit.

If you’re serious about starting a smart home of operating it via Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung Smartthings, Microsoft Cortana, etc. Then we suggest you get a starter kit worth Php10,390, primarily available in select PowerMac, Switch, iStore, Nifty, Urban Gadgets, Infomax Glorietta, Abenson Global City and online at the Philips Lighting Official store on Lazada.
