A Plague Tale Requiem Upgrades List
There are five categories of upgrades in total. The first three, you unlock during the first few chapters of the game. The fifth, the Crossbow upgrade path, is only unlocked after reaching receiving the Crossbow at the end of Chapter 5.
Sling Upgrades
| Upgrade | Tools | Pieces | Description |
| Softened Cords | 1 | 20 | By softening the cords, Amicia makes less noise when she uses a sling. |
| Double Cradle | 2 | 65 | By adding a second cradle to the sling, Amicia can shoot a second time before reloading it. |
| Elongated cords | 3 | 90 | By extending the cords, rocks shot with the sling are more powerful and stun enemies for longer. |
Crossbow Upgrades
| Upgrade | Tools | Pieces | Description |
| Flexible Limb | 1 | 40 | Choosing a softer metal for the limb of the crossbow will enable Amicia to reload it much faster. |
| Bigger Quiver | 2 | 65 | With a large quiver, Amicia can carry additional bolts (maximum of 6). |
| Reinforced bolts | 3 | 80 | By reinforcing the crossbow bolts, Amicia can recover them from enemies’ corpses. |
Alchemy Upgrades

| Hidden Pockets | 1 | 30 | Sewing new pockets on her gear will help Amicia carry additional alchemical ammo. |
| Strong fire | 2 | 55 | Amicia improves the alchemical ammo which enables her to kill enemies by throwing a jar combined with an Ignifer. |
| Unstable reaction | 3 | 80 | Amicia improves the alchemical ammo to make Odoris explode on contact with fire, killing unarmored enemies. |
Gear Upgrades

| Ringing Belt | 1 | 30 | A new ring on her belt will help Amicia carry an additional jar. |
| Bottomless bag | 2 | 55 | Amicia can carry additional alchemical resources thanks to a new pocket on her bag. |
| Belt cases | 3 | 80 | Adding cases to her belt will help Amicia carry additional knives and additional Pyrites. |
Instruments

| Recycling tool | 1 | 30 | A recycling tool is helpful for breaking jars, knife, Pyrites and bolts into pieces if Amicia has no more room. |
| Traveller tools | 2 | 55 | With traveller tools, Amicia can upgrade her equipment anywhere without using a workbench. |
| Unbreakable tool | 3 | 90 | Amicia can use an unbreakable tool to upgrade her equipment without tool cost. |
How To Upgrade In A Plague Tale Requiem
Reach Chapter 3 To Unlock Upgrades
To upgrade your equipment, you must first reach Chapter 3 of the game. During your travel to the herbalist, you’ll encounter a workbench just you drop to a path towards his house. Use this and scour the surroundings for pieces and tools to finally make your first upgrade.

Get Some Tools & Pieces
Tools and pieces are scattered around the game world for you to find. You can find them as pouches as you travel or inside locked workbenches. You can also find them sealed inside intricate looking chests. These materials are necessary for you to upgrade your equipment, making you more effective in dealing with the threats that the game throws at you.
Upgrade The Instruments Skill For Free Tools
As Tools are another resource that you have to look for when upgrading, you can do away with them if you unlock the final skill under the instruments tree. With “Unbreakable Tool” you don’t need to look for tools and you only need to have materials to upgrade. This makes it significantly easier to get more powerful tier 3 upgrades especially during the middle parts of Plague Tale Requiem.
Upgrade Using The Workbench
Invest In Instruments To Upgrade Anywhere
The second skill of the Instruments Skill path, “Traveler tools”, allows you to upgrade anywhere at anytime. This is extremely useful if you find yourself having enough materials to upgrade but have a hard time looking for a workbench. This skill also unlocks the incredibly useful “Unbreakable tool” which does away with requiring Tools when you upgrade.
