PLDT acknowledges slower Internet speeds due to cut Hong Kong subsea cable

-

Several days ago, there was a report that Hong Kong’s Internet subsea cable, SEA-ME-WE3, was damaged due to two consecutive storms hitting the island nation. PLDT has finally acknowledged the problem to their network in a Facebook post in their official page.

Despite the slower Internet speeds, there’s no official compensation from PLDT to their customers such as a lower rate or rebates on bills. You may want to call PLDT yourself if you want some kind of recompense due to the intermittent Internet speeds. At this time, only a tentative date of October 13, 2017 has been given as to when the cable will be fixed.
